Give me the open skies

The name's Hal Jordan. And, well, I have a ring.

Long and short of it? I'm no longer the man you think I am.

Green Lantern of sector 2814.

Sinestro Corps Member of Sector 2814.

Making this real plain and simple.

For personal reasons and because I’ve been struggling (for a very long time now) with keeping this muse due to various ooc reasons I am no longer going to be playing here. I won’t go into detail I will however say that I am hurt and ever since certain things have happened ooc, I doubt I will really be lingering here ever again.

I’ll miss you guys but hey, things happen, if you want to chew me out for never being here have fun. I’ve already been chewed out and made to feel like shit so what else is new.

It’s been fun but this is it.

Jordan, I’ve found this and as far engagement rings go, I think this one will suit you just fine.

Sure it’s not a bit too…flashy?

[Regardless Hal is smiling.]

Love the color.

I don’t know Jordan, I’ve been researching Earth weddings.

And I figured you would.

You’ve been researching— Thaal, you know the flashier stuff is mostly what women wear right?

Clark’s excitement, truth be told, had a bit of wistfulness behind it. Hal was still his friend, that was never going to change; but other things had. So much had sprang up and so much had come undone in the past months, and Clark knew that there were things that would never be the same. But he didn’t leave friends behind that easy.

“That’s really what it comes down to, huh, Hal?” Clark replied, nodding knowingly. “You’re happy. That’s the important thing. Any kind of turbulence is worth being happy, that’s what I say. And if you’ve made it there,” his own arm reached up to Hal’s shoulder as well, “well, that’s good enough for me.”

“I’d like to believe that,” Hal replies with a quirk of a smile. No matter what he does though a part of him recognizes that there’s something mournful, something heartbroken in his chest when he looks at Clark. The war had changed all of them, warping and twisting them, forcing them to take different paths.

A slight airy chuckle leaves him. “I’m getting there, big guy. Slowly but surely.” It’s then in that moment he knows. Nothing will be the same. Hal can only assume this is the last step and there’ll be no turning back. There’s a smile on his lips, an ache in his heart, “I can only hope I’ll be as lucky in finding happiness as you Clark.”

With that, Hal lets go of his friend, his brother.

It feels too much like a second farewell for him to hold on any longer.

My title means very little to me away from the soils of Jayd. Your politeness is greatly appreciated, though.

I assure you that my visit is not meant for any of those things. Others tend to belittle that which they are unable to comprehend. An unacceptable excuse, I know, but a true one I am afraid. I am sorry that you have been at the receiving end of such behavior.

No problem. You’re a princess no matter where your feet carry you. Could just be a human view of things but I’d like to believe it’s true.

I’ve gotten used to having insults thrown first and then the reluctant apology slipped in there. No need to apologize to me, Princess. After a while they just roll off your shoulders.

*Sinestro sighs, he’s really not surprised though to be fair, his brother’s anger is not entirely unjustified. How would would explain these things? How could Jordan explain he is now with the person who ruined his life more than once and tried murdering his family? What justification is there? Even Sinestro isn’t blind to see that its a dysfunctional relationship but even so…it works.*

What did you do after? You were gone for nearly two months.

[There’s a long moment where the words catch in Hal’s throat refusing to leave. Looking away briefly, his brows knit together and he opens his mouth attempting to speak. Taking a slow breath, his gaze slides back to Thaal.]

I went…and saw Helen.

[Once more his throat threatens to close and tighten on him. Fingers dig in at Sinestro’s nape where they’ve rested. The words are stagnant and he ducks his head away, drawing in a shaking breath to steady himself.]

She was just a little girl, Thaal…

A Talk for Old Times

emeraldartist replied to your post: “You’re not the guy I looked up to, not anymore.”

“Hal, you did choose the right path. Now I can get you a green ring and no guardians, but you’re still Hal. You’re still one of my heroes.” Kyle looks up, suddenly realizing the yellow ring may have done some good.

Kyle has no idea how Hal wants to be that person, a hero, if only for the kid in front of him. Only he’s not a hero. Hell, he never really was. No, he was just a man doing his duty because he could not because it was heroic but because it’d been the right thing to do. It’s why he has to do this now. It’s why he has to break down Kyle’s hero worship.

Because it’s the right thing.

“No,” Hal states calmly, crossing his arms across his chest, “I can never go back. Not after what they took from me, not after what they did to me.” Watching Kyle, gauging his reaction, the Lantern continues in an even tone, “Wearing a green ring means subjugating myself to their orders, their rules. It’ll accomplish nothing.”
